Beauty course/lesson for mature skin

I get a heap of mature ladies sheepishly asking me to teach them how to do their makeup. There is no reason to be shy - since your 20’s your skin has changed a heap, makeup styles have evolved, advancement in technology mean makeup is a science and there is a product out there to suit every skin tone, type ,texture and concern.

I specialise in mature makeup! You cannot use the same products and techniques as you can on a 20 year old - they just won’t do the job. So please, don’t be shy and ask me every question that comes to mind. We will talk about skincare as well and get you looking, but most importantly, feeling your best.

The photo below is a client who got her makeup done by me for a family photo shoot. She has previously had a lesson where we talked about her skincare regime and updated her techniques and products. She is 62!

Makeup lessons/course in Newcastle

Now is the time to come and learn how to do your makeup well to suit your features. After being in isolation, a lot of people enjoyed not wearing makeup. I can show you tips and tricks how to wear makeup to look like the best version of you. You don’t need to cake makeup on and have heavy colours (but certainly go ahead if you love it!).

My style of makeup is modern and natural. I never do a makeup without breaking down each of your features and then work  it to your advantage. If you’re after a fresh, modern and natural approach to your makeup, book a lesson with me today.

A recent private lesson client has this to say:

“Hi Emma,

Thank you so much for my lesson on Saturday. I was a little embarrassed about my lack of knowledge in applying make up but you made me feel so comfortable and I came out feeling confident and ready to give it all a try at home. You made everything easy to understand and your face chart has been such a help as some little things I couldn’t quite remember so it has been a great reference.

Thanks again, I really enjoyed it and you were awesome.

COVID-19 update

I’ve held off on writing this post in the hopes of finding some answers but all I can say is, we just have to take it as it comes.

At the moment my calendar has been wiped clean and I am unable to take bookings, If anyone was interested in a ‘zoom’ or ‘skype’ lesson, that can certainly be arranged. I really look forward to being able to take bookings again and share my 16 years worth of experience with you in your lessons.

Please feel free to get in touch with me via my ‘contact’ page if you have any questions or inquiries.

Stay home and stay safe.

Emma

I just had to share my stunning bride's photos!

Last year I had a wedding booked that was meant to be in a town called Wollombi. It’s a gorgeous, picturesque little country town in the Hunter Valley, NSW.

However, fire made this impossible so my bride had to up and reshuffle everything in 2 days! What an amazing feat. She was so relaxed and her bridal party were absolutely lovely. The day was so hot (40’c and windy) but you would never know it from the photos.

It really was a pleasure to be chosen to be part of her special day. My bride was so lovely and I’m so glad she was able to capture how stunning everyone looked on the day.

Freaky Fernleigh

I had a brilliant time creating a zombie pirate look for Cameron, a runner in freakyfernleigh. This was a 15km run so the makeup had to last through sweat and heat. In the end, any movement in the makeup added to the gross zombie look. He added an earring, musket and eye patch. I feel his dreadlocks inspired the look and was really happy with the result.

What kind of makeup do i do?

I often get inquiries starting with “this might sound weird ….but…” and to be honest, I love those inquiries! It usually means I get to be creative and think outside the square. I love to do makeups that enhance my clients’ best features but also LOVE getting creative. This could include, but not limited to, theater and stage makeup, photographic work, dress up parties, Halloween and special effects (SPFX, SFX, special FX) makeup and character makeup. If you’re ever unsure, you can only ask me. Chances are, I’ll be so excited to be your makeup artist!

The Lord Mayor of Newcastle sits in my makeup chair

I had the privilege of making Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Nuatali Nelmes, in to a zombie! I had 20 minutes to do hair and makeup. It was for the radio station hit 106.9 who were making the world's first instagram movie. Nuatali was to be half way through eating her assistant, hence the half face. She is such a lovely lady and a real trooper who took it all in her stride.
