I designed this 'queen of hearts' look for a client on Halloween . I had so much fun. Her chest had a special effects hearts that was dripping blood and the center looked like the striations of muscle......
The Lord Mayor of Newcastle sits in my makeup chair
I had the privilege of making Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Nuatali Nelmes, in to a zombie! I had 20 minutes to do hair and makeup. It was for the radio station hit 106.9 who were making the world's first instagram movie. Nuatali was to be half way through eating her assistant, hence the half face. She is such a lovely lady and a real trooper who took it all in her stride.
Testing out some new techniques and products
I love this look! I designed it purely so i could test out some new products in my kit as well as techniques. I am quite happy with the result (if i may say so myself!)
corporate work
Some recent corporate headshots for Zimple Digital
WEA Hunter group lessons
I am excited to announce that i will be teaching makeup and braiding classes at WEA Hunter from October! I designed these classes for the everyday person to learn how to apply makeup on themselves including day wear, evening wear and Halloween fun special effects. Head over to my instagram or facebook page for more updates. Or you can head to this link : https://www.weahunter.edu.au/courses?s=emma%20woods to have a look at the WEA website. So exciting! I can't wait to share my knowledge with you :)
Funny bride
Meg was such a stunning bride. I actually had a whisper with her photographer and asked if she wouldn't mind taking some headshots for me! It was such a fun day doing their makeup...although i did take a bit longer as we got carried away chatting and having a good laugh!
A boho wedding
A beautiful wedding with a rustic/boho vibe. The bride asked for nothing more than a natural look and still wanted to look like herself. I did textbook concealing (with the colour wheel in mind) to ensure her skin looked flawless without being overdone. It was a real honour to be a part of your day Aimz, thank you! "thank you so much Emma for doing such a wonderful job of my wedding makeup. You listened to my needs and interpreted exactly what i wanted and your relaxed and professional attitude was just what i needed on the day!! I would love to work with you again in the future"
lesson feedback
I have been super busy of late running private makeup lessons and recently had some lovely feedback from Penelope who received a voucher from her partner for Christmas: "it was really wonderful and helpful. I learnt heaps and have already annoyed my partner rambling about my discoveries while he is at work. I would definitely do it again when i’m ready to learn more or as a refresher. Hopefully practising will help me remember but that sheet and your notes definitely help my recollection of the helpful hints and rationale behind what was recommended. Super excited, happy and thankful 😁"
Voldemort SPFX
When your client rings and says he's off to a Harry Potter party....as Voldemort! This was a lot of fun! I used a bald cap and made latex prosthetic pieces to cover the brows. Plenty of undertones and shadow to create a gaunt look. In the movie they used CGI for Voldemort's nose and i wanted Malcolm to be able and eat and drink comfortably so went with colour effects only on the nose to create the illusion of width along the bridge. A bit of tooth painting really finished the look off well. I got the giggles when we were chatting and Malcolm was smiling normally for the photos. I'm always up for getting creative!
A tribal wedding
These guys were an absolute blast! I was quite surprised when i asked the bridesmaids what kind of makeup they were after and they told me 'tribal'. We had smokey gold/brown eyes, high contour, white dots and stripes in varying places and a deep berry lip with a glitter gold accent! So much fun. When the bride sent the photos through, i was so glad to see their originality and fun nature shine through. Congratulations again Mel !
Dual private lesson feedback
A lovely email from my clients Debra and Karen in regards to a recent double personal makeup lesson: "we thoroughly enjoyed the lesson yesterday, so much so, we were out until late last night showing off our new faces 😃 we weren't overwhelmed as you put us at ease. Given our age, we were concerned we would be asking silly questions and embarrassed about our ignorance. We were so keen afterwards that we headed to the square and bought the lip liner and eyebrow mascara. Thank you, it was lovely meeting and hopefully we'll meet up again 😊 enjoy your weekend Debra and Karen "
A Monday wedding
I have put a few pictures up of a recent wedding i did on a Monday. Lucy has been a long standing client of mine and usually likes to have a minimal look. For her wedding, she still wanted to look natural but opted for false lashes and just picked up the rest up the makeup to suit her wedding theme and give her a glow. The photos are absolutely beautiful !!
another cool makeup
Another cool makeup job- day of the dead. My client was off to a dress up party and requested black and white only with no shadowing. "hi Emma. Thanks again for doing my makeup. Everybody loved it and couldn't believe how good it turned out"- Mason, client.
another beautiful wedding
Congratulations to Alicea on her wedding in November. I had a great time doing the bridal party's makeup as well as the beautiful bride. Can't wait to see more pictures!
before and after
A fun 'before and after' comparison from today. My client was off to a wedding and was wearing mostly black
Spooky fun
I've been doing some fun special effects makeup lately. I love these jobs as they challenge my creativity and skills. Plus, they're a tad different to say....a bridal makeup! Ha! Always up for a variety of makeup looks and still loving loving it!
oh the horror!
Some great fun of late doing some crazy makeups!
Mature faces
I love mature makeups! Less really is more with just a little bit of something here and there- what a difference it makes
Party season
It's that time of the year again! Having a great time meeting new people for birthdays, formal, graduation ceremonies and special celebrations
Day of the Dead
A bit of something different- day of the dead looks for a 30th birthday celebration. I had a fantastic time creating these looks. Great to see everyone really getting in to theme and embracing the looks.
