Emma's makeup lessons are a great way to find out more about how to use and apply your makeup. Customised to suit your specific needs, each lesson leaves you feeling confident, knowledgeable and excited about makeup.
Emma is particularly passionate about corrective makeup and the techniques available to cover redness, dark circles or pigmentation, to ‘lift’ the eyes and make their colour pop, fill gaps in eyebrows or pick the colours that suit you best.
Who are these lessons for?
Everyone! Emma’s lessons are not just for those who are crazy about makeup; you may like to know how to look like you're wearing no makeup at all; refresh your skills after doing your makeup the same way for years; or learn how to apply your makeup as you transition. It may be that your makeup needs have changed as you’ve matured, so it’s important to know what products and applications are available to suit your skin and personal look.
Your makeup lesson will be designed to help you look like the best version of yourself every day.
Prior to your lesson:
Emma will discuss your needs and develop a plan to ensure everything you want to learn is covered. With over 19 years experience as a Makeup Artist and 11 years teaching makeup, Emma will structure your lesson to ensure you walk out with all the information you need to confidently use makeup to suit your personality, skin, age and lifestyle.
During your lesson:
You'll discuss the best techniques to suit your makeup style, tools of the trade and suitable products. Most clients bring their makeup and tools along so Emma can incorporate what you already own and can recommend products and tools that are suited to your needs.
Emma makes notes and draw diagrams on a face chart to ensure you comprehend the lesson. You can then take that home with you to use as a reference for your makeup applications.
It’s your lesson! So feel free to take notes, snap some photos, take part in a demonstration and ask plenty of questions before having a go for yourself.
After your lesson:
Emma goes over what you learnt and encourages you to ask as many questions as you’d like to ensure you are confident and inspired.

FAQ’S:
Where are they held? The makeup lesson is held at my little home studio in Charlestown.
What do I bring? Bring along any makeup or tools you own. I have clients bring multiple bags of makeup through to 2 or 3 items. It doesn’t matter how much you own or how experienced you are, it helps me understand what we need to go through and what products would suit your needs.
Should I chose the one or two hour lesson? The hour lesson goes by very quickly so I usually recommend this lesson to those who just want to focus on a few things in particular. The two hour makeup class is great for those who want to go step by step through their application.
Do I come with makeup on? No, please come with a fresh face (washed and moisturised) so we can spend our time learning, not removing your makeup.
Should I go shopping and buy products to bring to the makeup class? No, I use my kit and talk about different products and most clients leave with a shopping list of sorts.
Do you have any products I can purchase? Yes! I have my own brush set that I designed for easy home use, a 9 colour eyeshadow palette, and a clear acrylic palette as well.
I find places like Mecca and Sephora intimidating, can you help? Absolutely! I write a list of exactly what you need to ask for so you can walk in with confidence. I write everything down exactly as it is called so there’s no confusion. I’ve heard of my clients walking in with their list and saying “help me” and have had great success.
I am transgender (or transitioning), could you help me?
Absolutely! I have shown many people how to apply makeup to help feminize the face. I can also use makeup to make a face appear more masculine. No matter where you are on your journey, there are plenty of tips, tricks and techniques I can teach you.
What is the best age to start learning to apply makeup?
I find 14-15 years old is a great time to start. They’re just starting to show interest in makeup and want to know more, some of their friends are wearing makeup, they may have skin concerns they want to cover, or they may have creative flair. Any younger than this is tricky as they tend to tune out and lose focus. This is the same for group lessons. If they’re any younger for groups it’s all a bit too exciting and they just want to party!
